An old hardwood handled billhook made by William swift. Blade reads 'W.S, W.S, William Swift The Genuine W.S, No. 40', also marked with the crown logo (see photo). Rear of blade has some burring.

Ash handled billhook made by Wm Marples & Sons Sheffield 1. Blade is marked with heavy burring to rear edge, where the edge has been hit with a hammer.

Double edge billhook with beech handle made by Spear & Jackson. Blade is marked S&J England 4550 - 10. Handle is marked with some staining and a 55mm long crack.

A slasher made by Elwell marked to blade '4138', '10'. Has a good clean handle free of dents.

Spar billhook fitted with an ash handle, blade is marked Brades 293 made in England, ferule is also marked Brades. Has a number of old treated worm holes. This old green tool has a 85mm long crack to its handle. The blade is marked with black staining and speckling of pitting.

An old ash handled billhook marked to blade W. Gilpin Wedges Mills. Blade is bevel on one side only and has patches of pitting to end of blade. Replacement handle has a number of dents and two cracks 75mm and 35mm long.

Beech handled chopper marked to blade C. Whitehouse & Sons, the blade has some speckling of black staining and patches of pitting also has a chip to cutting edge.

10 inch billhook marked Brades Co Pattn 214. Handle has some wear with shrinkage cracks and a large chamfer on one side of the handle.

Ash handled billhook with an eight inch blade that is marked 'Brades 166, made in England, 8IN', ferule also has the Brades Co mark. Handle has one old treated worm hole.

Beech handled billhook made by Elwell. Blade is marked 'Elwell 2987, 10', Handle has half a dozen old treated worm holes. Blade is bevelled only on one side.

An old billhook marked Brades 191, made in England, 10, steel ferule is also marked Brades Co. Ash handle has a 50mm long shrinkage crack and a 35mm crack.

An old ash handled billhook made by Cornelius Whitehouse. Blade reads 'Cornelius Whitehouse & Sons Cannock, Reg Trade Mark, Hedgehog'. Handle is slightly loose and has a crack down the length of the handle.

A lovely old rosewood handled folding spar hook made by Whitby with brass fittings. This scarce tool retains a good amount of blade marked to one side Foreign the reverse is marked Whitby. Blade has 2 minor patches of pitting.

A lovely rosewood handled spar hook With a leather sheaf. The blade of this tool is marked C.T. Skelton & Co Sheffield and measures 145mm long, overall from end to end the billhook measures 282mm long. The leather sheaf’s missing part of the locking strap, all in all a nice clean tool for its age.
