Norris A5 Smoothing Plane

Coffin shaped A5 smoothing plane made by Norris of London with ebonised beech infills. Retains good length cutting iron marked Norris London to front side and Robt Sorby to the rear. Lever cap and brass knurled blade adjusting knob is also marked Norris London. Sides of rear wood infill are marked with the previous woodworkers name stamp. Sides and sole are marked with some light marks and scratches. A lovely old Norris plane that retains part of the original machine marks to sides and an estimated 90% of its ebonised finish to handles.

Old Smoothing Plane

An old smoothing plane made with a rosewood rear infill and a mahogany replacement front infill and a brass lever cap. The cutter is a parallel iron marked Parry & Son Sundial 329 Oldsec Warranted, the iron cover was made by Marples. The body of the plane has a number of dents with some minor pitting and scratching.

Dovetailed Jack Plane

Dovetailed jack plane 13 3/4" long with mahogany infills, blade is marked Sorby, the cap iron is marked Alex Mathieson & Son, both blade and cap iron are marked with large patches of pitting. Sides and sole of plane is marked with pitting and chips to mouth see photo.

Coffin Shaped Smoothing Plane

An old dovetailed coffin shaped smoothing plane with hardwood Infills, cutting irons marked Warranted I.Sorby Cast Steel Sheffield and has roughly 1” (25mm) of blade left to the slot. The plane iron cap is marked Ward Solid Steel Warranted. This old woodworking plane has some wear due to its old age, front and rear buns have previous users name stamp, the front bun also has a small crack 18mm long. The body of the plane has some light pitting/ staining, a chip to one side of the mouth, lever cap has a few minor dents.

Dovetailed Panel Plane

A dovetailed panel plane with mahogany handles. Blade appears to be marked “J.G. Graves, Midland Direct Supply Warehouse”, there is some heavy pitting to blade, the useable part of the blade is mainly free of pitting, has a chip to one corner. Infills are marked twice with the previous users name stamp. Outer body is marked with speckling of light staining / minor pitting with some light scratches to the sole.

Panel Plane

A 13 1/2" iron Scottish panel plane that has been professionally restored. This old woodworking plane has a good length Marples Parallel cutter that has 2 3/4 ” (70mm) of blade left to slot and a Marples cap iron. The sole has a small patch of minor pitting. The top half of the front bun has been professionally remade.

Old Infill Jack Plane

An old 13 3/4" jack plane with rosewood handle and infill. The blade is made by Marples, with the cap iron by Atkin & Sons. The handle has a repair to spur (see photo), there are two large chips on the rear infill close to where the blade sits. This old woodworking plane has seen some good use, infills have a number of dents plus the previous users name stamp, outer body is marked with black staining and speckling of mainly minor pitting.

Coffin shaped A5 smoothing plane made by Norris of London with mahogany infills. Infills are not original and have been professionally fitted. Retains near full length cutting iron marked Norris London. Lever cap and brass knurled blade adjusting knob are also marked Norris London. Sides and sole are marked with some light marks and scratches. A lovely old Norris plane with all parts working smoothly.

SOLD - Norris A1 Panel Plane

A fine little used 14 1/2" panel plane made by Norris London. This lovely post war plane retains a near full length parallel plane iron. Lever cap, plane iron and lateral blade adjuster are all marked with the Norris London stamp. Infills retain an estimated 96%+ of the original finish. This collectable plane comes complete with the original Norris box (box is worn with faint writing to lid and worn edges).
