Preston Tools

A fine little no. 1366 bullnose rabbet plane made by E. Preston, cast is marked 'RD387163'. This little plane retains a good length original cutter. The rosewood wedge is marked with the previous woodworkers name stamp to one side, sole has 1 minor spot of pitting. A lovely plane that retains 98% of its finish and comes with a fitted box that has the Preston label stuck to the front.

A 6" ebony pocket spirit level made by Edward Preston. Screws holding the brass face are worn.

A pair of trammel points made by Edward Preston. Pencil holder has a replacement brass screw. Retains keepers.

Ash handled very shallow paring gouge made by Edward Preston. Handle has been replaced by previous woodworker, should of blade overhangs brass ferule.

A decorative pair of 5 ½" long Edward Preston brass trammel points. Both trammels are marked E. Preston& Sons Birm Eng EP'. Trammels are marked with the previous user's initials.

A fine scarce nickel plated side rebate plane no. 1369 marked Preston EP Patent. Retains original good length cutters marked E.Preston & Sons Birm Eng Patent. This fine old Preston side rebate plane is in excellent condition and still retains 98% of its nickel plating.

A fine little used dowel rounder made by Edward Preston. This tool is designed to shave or trim the end of a dowel.

A small woodworking router made by Edward Preston. Cast is marked with the EP trade mark 'Rd no. 534243'. Retains 80% of its finish, main loss to sole of this little router.

Chamfer shave no.89 made by Edward Preston. Retains a good length blade marked E.Preston & Sons Birm Eng, EP. Body of chamfer shave retains an estimated 80% - 85% of its finish. Good clean sole.

A decorative ebony level with brass fittings made by Preston. Brass top is marked 'E.Preston & Sons Trade Mark EP, Warranted Correct'. This old level has been well used, has a number of marks and dents.

Brass mitre template made by Edward Preston marked Preston EP. Has a number of mainly light dents.

A small decorative round bottom spokeshave made by Edward Preston. Cast is marked 'RD 322021', face plate is marked 'E. Preston & Sons'. Retains a good length blade marked 'Preston EP Trade Mark'. A fine little spokeshave that maintains an estimated 90-95% of it's finish.

Old level made by Edward Preston Birm, Eng, retains both bubbles.

A fine mouth shoulder plane with rosewood infills and wedge made by Edward Preston. The rear of the plane body is marked with the Edward Preston and Sons trademark. Blade is marked Preston EP Trade Mark. The blade has been extended where a previous user has professionally added/welded a section of blade (see photo).Infills and wedge are marked with the previous woodworkers name stamps. Sides and sole of plane are marked with scratches, marks and dents (as expected with a plane of this age).

A boxwood folding rule marked E. Preston & Sons B’Ham Eng, Trade marked EP (Preston logo) Warranted Box, also marked Hayward Hookey & Towell. When closed the rule is slightly sprung, outside of rule has faded slightly with some marks and staining. Inside of rule is clean and clearly marked and has bevelled edges to insides of the rule, hinge is marked with some angled measurements. The measurements are marked out in inches on both sides up to 24” long overall. A nice old collectable Preston folding rule that maintains one locating pin.

Boxwood folding rule made by Preston marked E. Preston & Sons Trade Mark EP Birm Eng no. 3815 Warranted Boxwood. Rule is marked out in inches up to 24” long. , has one bevelled inside face that has two chips. Has some staining to outside face. Retains locating pin.

Folding rule made by Preston marked E. Preston & Sons Birmingham, Trade Mark EP, Warranted Box. This old rule is marked out in inches up to 24” on both sides of rule. Rule is slightly sprung, retains locating pin.

An Ovoloe shave made by Preston. Retains both original cutters marked Preston EP trade Mark 5/8 x 1 3/4. A nice old tool in good condition, still maintains an estimated 85% of it’s japanning.

Quirk router made by Preston. The body of this old Preston tool has been re-painted by the previous user. Includes one side fence and one cutter.

Fillister Router made by Preston, includes one side fence and cutter marked Preston EP Birmm Eng. Both the cutter router are marked with some light staining marks. The screw holding the side fence in place is believed to be a replacement. Body maintains an estimated 85% of its japanning.

Oveloe Shave 5/8 made by Preston, cutters are marked Preston EP trade mark. Body maintains an estimated 80% of finish.

Oveloe woodworking shave made by Preston. Retains two good length cutters marked Preston EP Trade Mark 5/8 x 1 3/4. One of the blade retaining screws has been replaced. Body retains an estimated 90% of its japanning.

Ovoloe sash shave 9/16, made by Preston, retains good length cutters marked Preston EP Trade Mark 9/16 x 1 1/2. Body has loss of its black enamel with an estimated 75% intact.

Edward Preston Fillister Router, includes a side fence and cutter marked Preston EP Birmm Eng. Both the cutter and side fence have wear with pitting marks, heavy in places.

A wooden chamfer plane made by Edward Preston & Sons with steel bottom sliding corebox. Plane is marked with a number of previous woodworkers name stamps to ends of chamfer plane. Body is marked with a number of dents, sides of wedge and corebox have been sanded clean.

Bullnose plane made by Edward Preston, side of plane is marked Rd 372093. Retains a good length Preston plane iron. Body retains the original faint machine marks. Mouth has a very very minor chip.

An adjustable brass engineers level made by Preston no. 1602, brass base is marked E. Preston & Sons England EP with the Preston logo, warranted correct.
