A boxwood folding rule marked J. Rabone & Sons Birmingham England, warranted best boxwood. Both sides of rule are clearly marked out in inches, hinge has angled measurements. One section of the rule has a purpose made round edge.

2 rules made by Faber Castell, includes 2 rules one of which is a precision slide rule. Both rules are in excellent condition and come with original cases and instruction booklet.

Boxwood folding rule marked J. Rabone & Sons Birmingham England, Warranted Best Boxwood, 1930. Has some staining to outside of rule. This old rule is marked out in inches up to 24” long overall and retains its locating pin.

Folding boxwood rule marked J. Rabone & Sons No. 1379, Birmingham England, Warranted Best Boxwood. This old rule is marked out in inches to both sides up to 24” long overall. Outside face has some discolouration good clean inside face, retains locating pin.

Folding rule / zig zag rule no. 1612 made in England by Rabone. Rule is marked on both sides in feet and inches up to 6 feet long overall. Has a saw cut to the outside of the rule when folding up

An old boxwood folding rule marked Rabone No. 1375, Warranted Boxwood, 1948, made in England, C2124. A nice clean folding Rabone rule that is marked out in inches up to 24” long overall and retains its locating pin.

A boxwood folding rule marked E. Preston & Sons B’Ham Eng, Trade marked EP (Preston logo) Warranted Box, also marked Hayward Hookey & Towell. When closed the rule is slightly sprung, outside of rule has faded slightly with some marks and staining. Inside of rule is clean and clearly marked and has bevelled edges to insides of the rule, hinge is marked with some angled measurements. The measurements are marked out in inches on both sides up to 24” long overall. A nice old collectable Preston folding rule that maintains one locating pin.

An old boxwood rule marked John Rabone & Sons Birm, Warranted Boxwood, no. 1377. Has some ware / staining to outside of rule. This old John Rabone folding rule is marked out in inches up to 24” long overall.

An old architects ivory rule with German Silver fittings. Rule is marked J. Rabone & Sons Birmingham, rule is bevelled on all edges. There is some discolouration, has a number of scratches to outside of hinge, lacks locating pin also has 2 chips near centre of rule (see photo). Rule measures 24” long overall.

A four fold 24” architects rule marked “J Rabone & sons, Makers, Birmingham”
Rule in boxwood with hinges and fittings made from German silver, main hinge has 180 degrees marked halfway across hinge. Slide to one outer section of rule, one pin missing to inner edge of rule and one pin missing to face of hinge. The rule has some wear / chips out of rule caused by pins, rule is slightly sprung approx 1/16” (2mm).
Some small dents / marks around pin to main hinge.
Rule is wasted to inner edges and has various measurements and scales including on outer edges of rule.

A collection of 3 Chesterman rules, collection includes:
1 x Rabone Chesterman folding rule no. 1161, marked out in millimetres up to 1000mm long overall, slightly sprung when shut.
1 x Chesterman rust less steel rule no. 1309 marked out in inches up to 12” long overall.
1 x Rabone Chesterman rust less steel rule no. 10R marked out in inches up to 12” long overall.
All three rules are very clean.

Boxwood foot measure marked T.Temporal, marked with sizes 1 to 14 and up to 12 inches to underside. Has chip to one side of the measure. Has had very little use.

An old boxwood rule with brass fittings marked The John Williamson Co Ltd 12 Gerrard St London. This has a 1/4" scale running up to 24” on each leg, rule measures 6” to each leg overall.

Boxwood folding rule marked Rabone GPO 1957 Made in England Boxwood, Rule is marked out in inches up to 24” long overall. Retains its locating pins.

Architects folding boxwood rule no. 1246 made by J. Rabone & Sons, Birmingham, England. This old rule has a slide out brass rule marked out in inches. Rule is bevelled on one side. Rule is marked out in inches to both sides, also marked ‘8 Square’ & ‘Line’, also marked with angled measurements to hinge which is also marked with the previous user’s initials. Retains one of two locating pins. Slightly misaligned when in the closed position. The recess where the brass rule sits has had a fine shaving taken off the edge by the previous woodworker.

Architects folding boxwood rule no. 1246 made by J. Rabone & Sons, Birmingham, England. This old rule has a slide out brass rule marked out in inches. Rule is bevelled on one side. Rule is marked out in inches to both sides, also marked ‘8 Square’ & ‘Line’, also marked with angled measurements to hinge. Retains locating pins. Slightly misaligned when in the closed position.

Boxwood folding rule made in England by Rabone no. 1375, also marked with the ministry Crown and dated 1938. Rule is marked out to both sides in feet and inches. Slight movement to centre hinges. Lacks locating pins.

Four fold boxwood rule marked Rabone, made in England, no 1166, Boxwood. Rule is marked out in inches up to 24". Rule is sprung slightly when shut. Outside face has faded, has a good clean inside face, retains locating pin.

Boxwood folding rule marked Trade mark Hockley Abbey, made in England, no.11591. Rule is marked out in inches to both sides up to 24” long. Rule is slightly misaligned when closed. A good clean rule that’s probably had little use, retains its locating pin and measurements are clearly marked.

Boxwood folding rule made by Preston marked E. Preston & Sons Birm Eng no. 3114. Rule is marked out in inches up to 24” long. Retains locating pin.

Two steel rules includes:
1 x Rabone Chesterman no. 714 contraction rule marked contn 1/120 to one side and Contn 1/70 and 1/64 to reverse side and is marked out in millimetres up to 500mm long overall. Rule is marked with some speckling of staining.
1 x Chesterman no. 308D steel rule marked out in inches up to 24” long to one side.

Boxwood folding rule made by Preston marked E. Preston & Sons Trade Mark EP Birm Eng no. 3815 Warranted Boxwood. Rule is marked out in inches up to 24” long. , has one bevelled inside face that has two chips. Has some staining to outside face. Retains locating pin.

Unusual calliper gauge with brass radial with increments from 0 to 72, arm can clamp onto brass radial by using the clamping screw. 6” (152mm) O/A length.
2 Brass protractors, one 3-5/8” (92mm), the other 3-1/8” (79mm)

A collection of 3 steel advertising rules, the collection includes:
12” three fold, single sided rule marked “Wood & Steel Specialities Co Ltd, London, England, No 13M” to face. To rear marked” with the compliments of Thos. P. Headland Ltd, 10 Melon Road, London S.E.15, this in a sleeve marked ”Have A Rule Try Headland” to one side and “Telephone New Cross 4300” to the other. Rule has metric and imperial measurements.
9” three fold single sided rule marked “Chesterman Sheffield England, No1205”,and “London” at oneend, metric and imperial measurements. To reverse marked” Mellowes & Co Ltd, Sheffield & London, Eclipse Patent Roof Glazing, Metal Casements”
6” rule/wire gauge marked “Dewey and Almy Chemical Co. Cambridge, Mass, USA to one face and “Darex Lining Compounds” and “Made in USA” to other face. 1621 has been etched in possibly by previous owner.

A steel rolling rule with brass running wheels. The tools marked Harling, measures 458mm long overall and comes with the original wooden box.
