Stanley Planes and Tools

A fine rosewood handled combination plane no. 50 made by Stanley. Includes 17 cutters, shaving deflector, 2 spurs, depth gauge, beading gauge, instructions leaflet, trade label and Stanley box. This Stanley combination plane still retains an estimated 98% of its nickel plating. 2 of 3 cutters are marked with light pitting halfway down the blade, useable part of blade is free of pitting, won't effect use.

Rosewood handled jack plane no. 5 1/2 by Stanley. Rear handle has had a previous repair from a crack through centre of handle. Retains a good length Stanley cutter, top of cutter and cap iron are marked with speckling of heavy pitting. Useable part of blade is mainly free of pitting only very minor marks. Body maintains an estimated 75% of finish.. Sides and sole are marked with speckling of pitting with a heavier patch of pitting halfway down sole.

Rosewood handled jack plane no. 5 1/2 made in USA by Stanley. Has a replacement cutter 19mm of blade left to slot. Body maintains an estimated 75% of finish, has some minor speckles of paint. Sides and sole are marked with a number of light scratches and dents through use.

Plastic handled jack plane no. 5 1/2 made in England by Stanley. Retains a good length Stanley cutter, cutter has a patch of pitting to the usable part of the blade. Body maintains an estimated 85-90% of its japanning and the original machine marks are still visible to outer body. Outer body is marked with speckling of pitting mainly to one side.

Rosewood handled fore plane, no 6 made in USA by Stanley. Retains Stanley USA plane iron marked with the Stanley sweetheart logo. Edges of frog have been painted orange by previous woodworker. Plane maintains an estimated 70% of its finish, has some speckles of paint to body. Sides and sole of body are marked with a number of small dents, scratches and minor speckles of pitting.

Beech handled fore plane, no 6 made in England by Stanley. Retains a good length Stanley plane iron. Body maintains an estimated 90% of its japanning. Sides and sole of body are marked with a number of small dents and some black staining. Retain the original machine marks. Rear handle has a good repair from a break halfway down rear handle. Sold as a collectable plane.

Beech handled jack plane no. 5 made in England by Stanley. Retains little of the original lacquer. Blade is marked Stanley made in England. Inner body maintains an estimated 80% of japanning, has some slight loss of nickel to face plate. Rear blade adjuster wheel is made from bakelite and brass. Outer body is marked with user made machine marks and scratches.

Beech handled smoothing plane no. 4 made in England by Stanley. Handles retain little of the original lacquer. Retains a good length Stanley cutter. Sole is marked with patches of black staining and pitting. Inner body maintains an estimated 85% of japanning.

Stanley compass plane no. 20. Stanley cutter is marked 'Stanley Pat APL.19.92. Sole is marked with some slight staining and minor patches of light pitting, face plate has some slight loss of nickel plating. Plane retains an estimated 65-70% of japanning.

An old compass plane marked Stanley Victor No. 20. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley APL.19.92, cutter is marked with speckling of staining and pitting. Sole is marked with a patch pitting (see photo). This Stanley Victor compass plane retains an estimated 75% of japanning.

Stanley compass plane no. 113. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley APL 19.92. Side of plane is also marked June17.78. The plane lacks the nickel plating to the front adjuster knob. Body maintains an estimated 75% of its finish. Flexible steel sole is marked with some minor speckles of pitting and staining.

Rebate plane no. 78 made in England by Stanley, retains a good length Stanley cutter. Lacks side fence and depth stop. Body maintains an estimated 80% of its japanning has a patch of white paint to inside of plane. Outer body is marked with a number of light dents.

Bullnose plane and spokeshave made by Stanley. Includes:
1 x no. 75 bullnose planewith a Stanley USA cutter. Retains 70% of its finish.
1 x no. 151 adjustable flat bottom spokeshave, cutter is marked Stanley SW, made in USA (marked with sweetheart logo). Retains 70% of finish.

A japanned hand beader no. 66 made by Stanley marked to cast Stanley Pat Feb.9.86. Includes 2 fences (1 fence is a replacement from a nickel plated Stanley 66) and 8 cutters. Comes with a user made wooden box. The body of this woodworking tool maintains an estimated 80% of is finish. Good clean sole.

Beech handled router plane no. 71 made in England by Stanley. Includes 2 cutters (12mm & 6mm), depth stop, lacks side fence. Body retains an estimated 95% of its nickel plating.

Round and flat bottom adjustable spokeshaves made by Stanley. Both tools retain good length Stanley cutter and clean soles. Also includes a cabinet scraper.

A Stanley no. 110 block plane made in USA. Retains a good length Stanley USA plane iron. Body retains an estimated 90% of it japanning. Has some minor black staining to body

Block plane no. 220 made in England by Stanley. Retains a good length Stanley cutting iron. Body maintains an estimated 85% of japanning. Speckling of minor staining and a small patch of very minor pitting.

Rosewood handled universal combination plane no. 55 made by Stanley. Includes all cutters that are in very good condition, main section, sliding section, auxiliary centre bottom, cam rest, long and short arms, 2 gauges, 2 spurs, lacks how to us booklet. Comes with the original Stanley box (bottom edges of box have been strengthened with tape, lid of box has split out to bottom of edges and has a number of marks/ staining). The plane body itself is marked Stanley SW (sweetheart logo) made in USA no. 55.Side fence is marked trade mark 55, the depth gauge is marked US. PAT 4-11-22. This old Stanley no. 55 plane maintains an estimated 85-90% of its nickel plating, long and short arms lack any nickel plating. A lovely old plane which retains a good clean set of cutters with only minor speckles of black staining. Cutter numbers 45 and 102 have had the profile changed.

Collection of double helix auger bits, 8 of which are marked Russell Jennings no. 100 RJ Stanley 100 Plus, made in England, the ninth auger bit is marked 'Russell Jennings'. Collection includes:
1 x 16/16", 1 x 12/16", 1 x 3/4", 1 x 10/16, 1 x 8/16", 1 x 7/16", 1 x 6/16", 1 x 5/16" and 1 x 4/16".
A couple of the auger bits are marked with some light staining.

A dowel sharpener / shaver made by Stanley. This tool is designed to shave or trim rapidly the end of a dowel. This old tool retains an estimated 70% of its finish. This old tool dates from 1900's to the 1950's

A corner ratchet brace with plastic handles made by Stanley marked 02-716. Top handle has a 30mm long chip to the edge of the handle otherwise in very good condition.

Stanley no. 95 butt gauge. This old tool is Stanley no. 95 made In USA. Retains an estimated 80% of its nickel plating with staining to body. Face is marked out in inches up to 2 inch long. Retains good length cutters.

Compass / circular plane marked Stanley Victor No. 20. Retains a good length cutting iron marked Stanley New Britain, made in USA. Sole is marked with some speckles pf black staining and a some very light scratches. This Stanley Victor no. 20 compass plane retains an estimated 90% of its japanning.

This is a rare early Stanley plough plane which is designed with a decorative pattern and Rosewood handle. The plane has one cutter and has a replacement depth stop. A nice collectable old plane.

A fine little used nickel plated side rabbet plane no. 79 made in England by Stanley. This woodworking plane has seen very little use if any still maintaining two full length Stanley cutters, 99% of its nickel plated and comes with the original Stanley box and wax paper.

Router plane no. 271 made by Stanley. Retains 95% of its nickel plating.

A snap knuckle joint block plane with an adjustable mouth no. 18 made in USA by Stanley. Has very little cutter remaining if any (slot needs extending). Cutter is marked Stanley made in USA SW with the sweet heart logo. Snap knuckle is also marked with Stanley SW and the sweet heart logo. Body retains an estimated 80% of its finish. One side of plane has a couple of small pitting marks.

Block plane no. 9 1/2 with adjustable mouth made by Stanley. Cutter has had the slot extended to get more use from the blade and is marked Stanley made in USA. Body maintains the original machine marks, marked with some black staining. Body retains an estimated 90% of japanning.

Beech handled smoothing plane no. 3 made in England by Stanley. Retains a near full length Stanley plane iron. Handles have some loss and cracking of lacquer, front knob has little lacquer remaining. Body retains the original but faint machine marks to outer body, inner body maintains an estimated 96-98% of its japanning. Sides and sole are marked with some very minor speckles of black staining.

Hand beader no. 66 made by Stanley. Includes 7 interchangeable cutters, two fences, the hand beader retains its original box though the box is in a very poor condition, lids barely held together and it's missing the Stanley label on the front of the box.. The beader itself retains an estimated 96-98% of nickel plating.

A little used nickel plated woodworking router no. 271 made by Stanley. Retains 99% of its original finish and comes with the Stanley box

A fine Stanley England carriage makers rabbet plane no. 10 1/2. This old woodworking planes has beech handles that have some slight loss and cracking to the lacquer. Sides and sole of plane retain the original machine markings. Retains a near length Stanley cutter. A fine carriage makers rabbet plane no. 10 1/2 that still retains an estimated 98% of its finish.

Bullnose rabbet plane no. 90 made in England by Stanley. Retains a near full length Stanley blade. Body maintains an estimated 96-98% of its nickel plating. Body is marked with some very minor dents.

A fine bullnose plane no. 90J made in England by Stanley. Retains a good length Stanley blade. This bullnose plane maintains the original machine marks, has some minor speckles of black staining, retains 99% of its original finish and the original Stanley box.

A later no. 5 1/4 jack plane made in USA by Stanley fitted with stained beech handles. Blade is marked Stanley 5 1/4 P(12-025) USA. Body retains an estimated 95% of its finish. The sole is marked with machine marks that appear like dimples down the length of the plane, side of plane is marked with the previous woodworkers name stamp.

A Rosewood handled jack plane no. 5 1/2C made in England by Stanley with corrugated sole. Fitted with a good length Stanley England cutter. Body maintains an estimated 95% of its japanning and faint original machine marks. Rear handle has been replaced by the previous woodworker. Outer body is marked with some minor staining, mouth of plane has a very minor chip.

A fine knuckle joint block plane the no. 9 1/2 made in USA by Stanley. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley SW USA (sweet heart logo), knuckle joint lever cap is also marked with Stanley and the Sweet heart logo. This woodworking plane retains an estimated 98% of its original finish. Sole has a number of light scratches.

Double ended block plane no. 130 made in England by Stanley, fitted with a stained beech knob. Retains a good length Stanley cutter. Body is marked with some very minor speckles of staining. A nice plane that maintains an estimated 98% of japanning, the original machine marks to body, Stanley trade sticker and the original Stanley box.

A fine rosewood handled universal spoke shave no. 67 made by Stanley. Includes a single round base, lacks side fence. Handles can be removed and moved to the top of the shave for close corner work. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley SW made in USA (Sweet heart logo). Body maintains an estimated 95% of its nickel plating.

An old cornering tool no. 29 made by Stanley, tool is marked StanleyRule & Level Co New Britain Conn USA no. 29. One end is marked 3/8" the other 1/4".

A rosewood handle cabinet scraper plane no. 112 made by Stanley. Includes 2 replacement scraper blades: a thin longer scraper blade and a thick shorter blade (shorter blade is marked with speckling of pitting and black staining). The plane lacks its original black japanning. Outer body is marked a few patches of pitting.

Nickel plated woodworking router plane no. 271 made by Stanley in USA. Retains 96% of it's nickel. Sole is marked with a number of noticeable scratches, previous woodworker has also drill through the cast so a wooden base can be fitted.

An early tongue and groove plane no. 48 made by Stanley. This old collectable plane has brass knurled adjuster screws and two replacement 8mm cutters. Body retains an estimated 50% of its japanning.

An old beech handled box scraper no. 70 made by Stanley. Retains a good length cutter that is slightly convex to match the sole. The cutter is marked Stanley New Britain Conn USA. The sole is slightly convex from left to right as you look at the photograph. The sole of this box scraper is marked with some light speckling of pitting. Cast section of tool is japanned and retains an estimated 80% of its japanning.

A no. 65 low angled block plane with adjustable mouth made by Stanley. Blade is marked Stanley Made in USA. Sole is marked with a number of clearly visible scratches and a very small chip to mouth. Outer body is also marked with speckling of very minor pitting. Inner body retains an estimated 60% of its japanning.

2 bevel edge socket chisels made by Stanley, includes:
1 x 12mm Stanley everlasting chisel, blade is marked with speckling of pitting from socket to halfway down flat section of blade.
1 x 10mm Stanley socket chisel.

These wood chisel measure from 207mm up to 223mm long overall.

A fine low angled block plane with adjustable mouth no. 60 1/2 made in England by Stanley. Retains a near full length Stanley cutting iron. Body maintains 99% of its black japanning, outer body maintains the original machine marks with some light scratches to the sole.

Side rabbet woodworking plane no. 79 made in England by Stanley. This rabbet plane has retains two near full length Stanley cutters. Lacks the side fence, body retains an estimated 95% of its nickel plating, loss of nickel is to the front of the plane as can be seen in the photo.

An old and collectable rosewood handled universal Combination Plane no. 55 made by Stanley. Includes 55 cutters, main section, sliding section, auxiliary centre bottom, cam rest, long and short arms, 2 gauges, 2 spurs, includes a Stanley how to use booklet (this book in very poor condition, has a number of loose pages and missing and torn pages to front and rear of book. Comes a user made wooden box. The plane body itself is marked Stanley SW (sweetheart logo) made in USA no. 55. side fence is marked trade mark 55, the depth gauge is marked US. PAT 4-11-22. This old collectable Stanley no. 55 universal combination plane maintains an estimated 80-85% of its finish, long and short arms lack any nickel plating. Retains good clean cutters with only minor speckles of black staining.

Scrub plane no. 40 made by Stanley that retains a good length Stanley SW made in USA plane blade with Sweet Heart logo. Has a rear beech handle and a replacement rosewood front knob. Body retains an estimated 50% of its finish, sole is marked with a number of visible scratches which is common with this type of woodworking plane.

A double cutter spokeshave no. 60 made by Stanley, this old spokeshave has both a flat and a concave bottom. Cutters are marked Stanley New Britain Conn USA. Length of sole is marked with pitting. Body maintains an estimated 65-70% of its finish. Has a hairline crack in the cast to the very centre of the shave.

A scarce twin blade reversible spokeshave no. 62 made by Stanley. Cutters are marked Stanley Rule & Level Co, cast is marked 'B'. Body retains little of the original japanning. Cutters and soles are marked with some black staining and very minor speckles of pitting.

Beech marking gauge no. 64 made by Stanley New Britain Conn USA. Has a boxwood thumb screw, marking gauge is marked out in inches up to 6". Pin has been replaced.

An early nickel plated side rebate plane no. 79 made in USA by Stanley. This woodworking plane maintains two near full length Stanley USA cutters, some light staining to cutters, body of woodworking plane retains an estimated 98% of its nickel plating. A fine old Stanley side rebate plane no. 79.

Shoulder plane no. 92 made by Stanley, retains a good length Stanley cutting iron. Body of plane maintains an estimated 85% of its nickel plating, has some nicks and dents to body.

An old compass plane marked Stanley Victor No. 20. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley SW (with sweetheart logo) Made in USA. Sole is marked with a very minor patch of light pitting, face plate has some slight loss of nickel plating. This Stanley Victor compass plane still retains an estimated 80 -85% of its finish.

A fine little used 5/8” dado plane no. 39 made by Stanley. This dado plane is fitted with a full length skew cutter, 2 spurs and adjustable depth stop. Adjuster knob is marked Stanley SW (with sweetheart logo) made in USA. The adjuster knobs have some slight loss of finish. This Stanley dado plane no. 39 has seen very little use, cutter appears unused. Body retains an estimated 99% of its black japanning, retains the original machine marks with a good clean sole. A great collectable plane hard to find in this condition.

Rare cabinet makers scraper plane no. 85 made by Stanley marked PAT.4-11-05 to cast, with tilting rosewood handles, handles have some very minor dents. Knurled thumbscrew is marked Stanley New Britain CONN USA. The inner body of this woodworking plane maintains an estimated 96 - 98% of its japanning. Outer body is marked with some minor marks/ scratches. A good clean Stanley no. 85 scraper plane.

A little used type 1 floor plane no. 74 made by Stanley. Rear of plane cast is marked PAT. DEC.15-85, the lever cap screw is marked Stanley Rule & Level Co. Has a good length unnamed cutter. Sole is marked with a couple of very minor casting marks. This floor plane is in excellent condition retaining an estimated 96-98% of its original finish. This scarce floor plane no. 74 lacks its original wooden handle, though these planes are rarely found with the handle, would make a nice project (handle length would have been 45 inches long, probably made from beech though has also been found made from other hardwoods).

An old compass plane marked Stanley no. 20. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley PAT 1992, lateral adjuster is marked Stanley PAT 72488. This old compass plane still retains an estimated 85% of its nickel plating with the main loss to the face plate. A nice old compass plane with a good clean flexible steel sole.

A little nickel plated side rabbet plane no. 79 made in England by Stanley. Retains two near full length Stanley cutters. Lacks depth stop. Body maintains an estimated 96-98% of its nickel plating and comes with the original Stanley box.

Rosewood handled universal spokeshave No. 67 made by Stanley, this old tools has an interchangeable handle, 1 cutter and 1 round base, (lacks 1 cutter, 1 base and adjustable fence). Top of blade is marked with some deep pitting marks. Previous woodworker has drilled a hanging hole through top of one handle, handles are marked with some denting.

Compass plane no. 113 made by Stanley. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley Pat AP’L 19.92. Has slight loss of nickel plating to the front adjuster knob. Body maintains an estimated 80% of its japanning. Flexible steel sole is marked with a few small minor patches of pitting / black staining.

An early nickel plated side rebate plane no. 79 made in USA by Stanley. This woodworking plane maintains two near full length Stanley cutters marked Stanley SW made in USA (sweetheart logo) and retains an estimated 45% of its nickel plating main loss to rear of plane. Due to loss of finish the plane is classed as condition G.

An old compass plane no. 113 made by Stanley. Retains a good length cutter marked Stanley SW made in USA (with sweet heart logo). Lateral adjuster is marked Stanley PAT 2.8.76 - 10.21.84 – 72488. Adjuster knob is marked Stanley Rule & Level Co, lacks the nickel plating to the front adjuster knob. Body maintains an estimated 80% of its japanning. Flexible steel sole is marked with some patches of black staining.

An old rosewood handled veneer scraper no. 12 made by Stanley. Brass adjuster is faintly marked Stanley Rule & Level Co New Britain CONN USA. This woodworking scraper plane is fitted with a good length replacement scraper blade. Sole is marked some pitting and scratching heavy in places. Handle has two bolts holding the handle in place. Body maintains an estimated 70-75% of japanning.

A scarce edge trimming block plane with skew cutter no 95 made by Stanley, rear of plane is marked made in USA, U.S.PAT.5.14.12. Retains a near full length cutting iron marked Stanley made in USA SW (with the sweetheart logo). Body maintains an estimated 85-90% of its black japanning, plus part of the Stanley trade label. A nice old and collectable Stanley no 95 woodworking plane.

A fine little block plane no. 102 made in England by Stanley. This woodworking plane has seen very little use if any still maintaining a near full length Stanley cutter, 99% of its japanning, wax paper and the Stanley box.

An early combination plane no. 50 made by Stanley. Body is marked ‘S’ plus the previous users name stamp, side fence is marked PAT Sept 1183??? And has been fitted with a boxwood moulded fence. Maintains an estimated 75-80% of nickel plating, arms lack plating. Includes depth stop lacks cutters.

Nickel plated side rebate plane no. 79 made in England by Stanley. This little rebate plane has maintains two full length Stanley cutters and 98% of its nickel, lacks depth fence.

Eureka T-Flush Sliding Bevel No. 18 marked to body No. 18 Stanley 8IN Made in USA. Has some loss of nickel mainly to blade with some staining to blade.

Nickel plated angle divider no. 30 made by Stanley, marked to body PAT’D OCT-27-1903. This old tool has some slight loss of nickel plating and is marked with black staining. Comes with the original Stanley box (box is in a poor condition, badly torn).

A fine little used 7/8” dado plane no. 39 made by Stanley. This dado plane is fitted with a full length skew cutter, adjustable depth stop and 2 spurs. Adjuster knob is marked Stanley SW made in USA with sweetheart logo. This is a fine plane that has seen very little use, cutter appears unused. Body retains an estimated 99% of its black japanning. Outer body has some very very minor speckles of staining, retains the original machine marks with a good clean smooth sole. A great collectable plane hard to find in this condition.

A little nickel plated side rabbet plane no. 79 made in England by Stanley. Retains two Stanley cutters, (cutter require re-grinding). This woodworking plane lacks its side fence. Body maintains an estimated 85% of its nickel plating, main loss to front of plane.

Compass plane no. 113 made by Stanley. Cutter is marked Stanley PAT APL.19.92. Front adjuster knob is marked Stanley Rule & Level Co. Body maintains an estimated 70% of its finish. Flexible steel sole is marked with some patches of pitting and black staining and minor pitting.
