Wooden plough plane marked 'W.Greenslade Bristol, Exhibition medals, London, Dublin, Paris, Melbourne". 3 Cox and Luckman Beading Planes

A collection of 3 beading planes all by Cox & Luckman, the 2 smaller planes have the Birmingham mark, the larger plane was made in London. Includes the following sized beads: 5/16", 1/2" and 7/8". Planes are marked with the previous woodworkers name stamps. The 7/8" bead has an old treated worm hole. The two smaller planes have number of marks, dents, slight damage to the boxed bead strip and discolouration to the body of these old woodworking planes. The smallest plane has half a dozen old treated worm holes. We believe these Cox & Luckman planes date from around the 1840's to late 1800's.

SOLD -Wm Marples Plough Plane and Irons

An old wooden plough plane made by Marples. End of plane is marked 'Hibernia, Wm Marples & Sons, Sheffield, 1939, also marked with the ministry arrow. Skate is marked with some minor speckling of staining/ very light pitting. Plane is in very good condition with it's depth adjuster working smoothly. Includes 5 Marples irons numbers 1, 2, 5, 6 and 8. Iron 5 has a small patch of pitting, iron 2 is marked with a large patch of pitting halfway down either side of the blade. We have added a no. 4 plough iron that was made by Seedland Bros, Sheffield.

Moseley Goswell Street Quirk Ogee Planes

Two scarce quirk ogee planes made by Moseley, Goswell Street. Rears of smaller quirk ogee is marked 3/8 the large plane 3/4. Both planes have a boxwood strip to sole and near full length plane irons. Front ends of planes are marked with the previous woodworkers name stamps, marks and dents through use, discolouration to bodies and around half a dozen old treated worm holes to each plane. The larger Moseley quirk ogee has a small chip from the boxwood strip on the sole. We believe these scarce planes date from around the 1820's to 1840's.

6 Higgs Quirk Ogee Planes

A collection of quirk ogee planes made by Higgs with single boxed strips to the soles. These old woodworking planes retain good length cutters. All six planes are marked with the same woodworkers user name stamp to the front ends of the planes (single stamp to each plane). Two planes have a removable slip to the sole and three other planes have been previously fitted with a sole slip and so the soles have four pin holes. Two of these quirk ogee planes have side slips. Box wood strips on the sole of two of the planes have been replaced with a mahogany strip one of which has a chip15mm long chip. Great collection of Higgs planes in good condition for their age. We believe these planes dates from around the late 1700's to late 1820's. These quirk ogee planes measure from 35mm (1 3/8") wide up to 63mm (2 1/2") wide overall.

Higgs Double Reeding Plane

Double reeding plane made by Higgs, rear of plane is marked 7/16. Has two large chips from the boxwood strips on the bottom of the plane. Previous woodworkers has added a side fence to bottom of plane, also has drill holes to side of plane where a fence was used. Body is marked with some denting and scratching mainly to rear end of plane plus the previous woodworkers name stamp to front end of plane. Has a good length replacement blade.

Plane have some staining marks the smaller 14mm bead has a small number of visible dents.

A made up half set of 18 hollow and round planes made by Griffiths, ends of planes are marked Griffiths Norwich. Collection includes the following pairs:
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. Ends of planes are marked with the previous woodworkers name stamps. This half set of hollowing and round planes are marked with some denting through use. Round plane no. 10 has damage to top of wedge through use of a hammer. No. 10 hollow has a number of marks, dents and staining. No. 8 round plane has chip to outside of mouth.

Mathieson Grooving, Tonguing and Checking Plane

Grooving tonguing and checking plane marked to front end of plane A.Mathieson & Son Glasgow Patent applied for, also marked Patent applied for on the metal ends of the moveable fence. This Mathieson woodworking plane includes its side fence, depth stop, the 2 original Mathieson cutters. A good clean plane retains part of the original Mathieson trade labels.

Buck Scrub Plane

An old horn handled scrub plane made by Buck. Front end of this old woodworking plane is marked Buck 242 Tottenham Ct Rd. Rear of plane is marked twice with the previous woodworkers name stamp. This plane dates from around the late 1800's to early 1900's. (Source British Planemakers from 1700 by W.L. Goodman). This old scrub plane is fitted with a replacement parallel plane iron made by W. Marples & Sons. Body has a number of dents and black staining marks, rear of plane has a 80mm long shrinkage crack. Good clean sole.

SOLD - Holland Dado Plane

An old dado woodworking plane marked to front end of this woodworker’s plane Holland 68 Oakley Westm Lambeth, rear of plane is marked 5/8. This old Holland plane is marked with the previous user’s name stamp to both ends and sides of the plane. This old woodworking plane has some light dents. Retains a near full length skew cutter and working depth stop. This plane we believe dates from around the 1860’s to 1880’s.
