Stanley 55 Universal Combination Plane Ref: PL3209 Rosewood handled universal combination plane no. 55 made by Stanley. Includes all cutters that are in very good condition, main section, sliding section, auxiliary centre bottom, cam rest, long and short arms, 2 gauges, 2 spurs, lacks how to use booklet. Comes with the original Stanley box (bottom edges of box have been strengthened with tape, lid of box has split out to bottom of edges and has a number of marks/ staining). The plane body itself is marked Stanley SW (sweetheart logo) made in USA no. 55.Side fence is marked trade mark 55, the depth gauge is marked US. PAT 4-11-22. This old Stanley no. 55 plane maintains an estimated 85-90% of its nickel plating, long and short arms lack any nickel plating. A lovely old plane which retains a good clean set of cutters with only minor speckles of black staining. Cutter numbers 45 and 102 have had the profile changed.
