SOLD 5 Old Mortice Chisels
A collection of five old mortice chisels with oak and beech handles. Collection includes:
1 x 16mm wide, marked Pearson, handle has a 25mm long crack.
1 x 15mm wide, marked Pearson, marked with some pitting close to front of blade,
1 x 11mm wide, marked Ward, handles marked with previous user’s name,
1 x 6mm wide, Pearson, handle has two 30mm cracks,
1 x 4mm wide, unnamed, blades marked with some black staining and pitting, handle has a 25mm long crack, previous users name stamps and a chip to rear of handle.
These old woodworking chisels measure from 237mm long up to 320mm long overall.

A collection of 5 heavy duty mortise chisels, 1/2”, 5/16”, 1/4”, 3/16” and 1/8”.(12mm, 8mm, 6mm, 4mm and 3mm).
1/2” by Thos Ibbotson & Co, handle has chip off end.
5/16” by Ward, some pitting to blade, possibly re-handled by previous owner.
1/4” by Ward, some pitting to blade, again possibly re-handled.
3/16” by Isaac Greaves, also marked “2” on blade, very clean blade, 3 old worm holes to handle plus a small scoop.
1/8” blade marked W.Staley, minor pitting to blade.

5/8” by Newbould, an early chisel, some pitting to blade plus dents to top, possibly re-handled, cut/scratch to side of handle.
7/16” by Ward, squarer type blade, has been re-handled by previous owner.
5/16” by I.Sorby, has minor dents to blade.
3/16” blade marked A&N, nice clean chisel.
1/8” by Ward, minor staining to blade.

Mortise Chisels by W.Marples
A collection of 3 good Boxwood handled mortise chisels by W.Marples of Sheffield.
1 x 3/8” (9mm) with most of original trade label.
1 x 5/16” (8mm) minor pitting/marking to blade, handle has shrinkage crack to knot in boxwood, this chisel has seen more use than the other two.

” (6mm) almost complete trade label, chisel seen little use.

SOLD Marples Mortice Chisels
Three fine boxwood handled mortice chisels with brass ferules and leather washers made by W Marples. This fine collection of woodworking chisels appear to have seen little use and still retain the original Marples décor to their handles. Collection includes:
1 x 13mm (1/2”) wide, 1 x 11mm (7/16”), 1 x 3mm (1/8”). These Marples mortice chisels measure from 312mm (12 1/2") up to 355mm (14”) long overall. All three woodworking chisels include leather blade covers.

Henry Taylor 1/4 Inch Registered Chisel
A specialist designed heavy duty 1/4 inch registered chisel by Henry Taylor, ideal for chopping mortices and can also be used
for any heavy duty tasks.
This Henry Taylor woodworking chisels made with a hardwood handle, leather washer to absorb shock, steel ferule and steel hoop fitted
to the striking end of handle to resist splitting.
The registered chisel blades are a lot thicker than ordinary firmer
chisel blades and are carefully forged, correctly hardened and tempered, then hardness-tested to guarantee edge retention.
