Two contraction rules made in Sheffield England by Chesterman. The older of the two rules has the markings No 320D London Cont 1/60, the reverse sides marked Cont 1/120. The second contraction rules marked Rustless No 612D, Cont 1/60, 1/120 also marked with the previous users name stamp. Both contraction rules are marked up to 12" long.

Boxwood rope gauge by J.Rabone & Sons, made in England, no 1206. Front is marked Breaking loads in tons, galvanised hawser steel ropes. Back is marked 3 strand, weight per 120 Fathom coil. Manila, tarred hemp, Manila 3 strand, Manila Cable Laid. Measures 4 5/8" (117mm) long overall when closed by 1 13/16" (41mm) wide. The brass top has a very slight bend.
