Lateral adjuster's marked Stanley PAT 72488. Year of manufacture's believed to be 1888. This compass plane's in excellent condition for its age with an estimated 96% of japanning intact plus a clean flexible sole.

An early compass plane type 2 made by Stanley, front adjuster knobs marked Stanley Rule & Level Co Patented Sept 25, 1877, retains a good length blade marked Stanley PAT APL.18.92. Side of the plane is marked PAT'D June 17.79. The planes body retains an estimated 70% of its black japanning. Has a flexible steel sole which has two patches of pitting, one of which is fairly heavy pitting. This old planes showing signs of its age with some black staining to be expected for this antique plane.

Compass plane no 113 by Stanley with side wheel adjuster. Retains a good length cutting iron marked Staley PAT APL.19.92. Front adjuster handle’s marked “Stanley Rule and Level Co”, the plating worn to the top of this handle. The hinges of the plane have been painted black by previous user probably to protect it. The sole has some speckling of black staining, plus a small patch of light pitting. An early Stanley compass plane. Body maintains an estimated 85% of its black japanning.
