An old and collectable rosewood handled universal Combination Plane no. 55 made by Stanley. Includes 58 cutters (see photo), includes a 3/16” and 1/8” plough cutter from a different plane, that are not in the photograph), main section, sliding section, auxiliary centre bottom, cam rest, long and short arms, 2 gauges, 2 spurs, retains Stanley how to use booklet (this book has good readable pages within, though this old booklet has worn with loose front and rear pages, pages have browning to them and some tares mainly to outer pages) and comes with the original Stanley wooden box. The plane body itself is marked Stanley SW (sweetheart logo) made in USA no. 55. side fence is marked trade mark 55, the depth gauge is marked US. PAT 4-11-22, booklet is marked Stanley tools New Britain CONN, USA, copyrighted 1921 by the Stanley Rule and Level plant. Cutters are held in slotted sections of the main box. The box has afew old treated worm holes. This lovely plane maintains an estimated 85% of its finish, main loss of nickel plating is to the long and short arms.
