A good old collectable crosscut hand saw.
The blade on this antique saw is marked with an etching 'ALFRED RIDGE, CAST STEEL, SHEFFIELD'.
We can't find this maker mark in our reference books. There is an ALFRED RIDGE & SONS which dates from c1845 - c19, this saw could quite possibly date pre-1845 which is very old for a saw, a few other markers indicate it could date 1830-1845, we can't confirm this, you will need to judge for yourself the age.
The saw is fitted with an old decorative Beech handle.
TPI: 5 1/2
Blade length: 24"
Condition: the blade is straight, all teeth present, crescenting as you look down the line of teeth, would benefit from a sharpen, please see photos for condition.
